What is ROHS certification?

RoHS certification, also known as environmental certification, is in compliance with European and American standards. It is the abbreviation of the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment, which stipulates that in electrical and electronic products, harmful heavy metals such as lead Pb, cadmium Cd, mercury Hg, hexavalent chromium Cr6+, polybrominated diphenyl ether PBDE, and polybrominated biphenyl PBB are prohibited from being imported by the European Union from July 1, 2006. RoHS is the most basic entry threshold for electronic and electrical products to enter the EU market. If the product is exported to the European Union, it needs to meet the requirements of EU RoHS.

ROHS certification mainly involves products:

RoHS targets all electrical and electronic products that may contain the six harmful substances mentioned above in the production process and raw materials, mainly including: white goods, such as refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves, air conditioners, vacuum cleaners, water heaters, etc., black goods, such as audio and video products, DVDs, CDs, TV receivers, IT products, digital products, communication products, etc; Electric tools, electric electronic toys, medical electrical equipment.

What are the limit requirements for harmful substances in ROHS2.0 testing?

1. Lead (Pb): The maximum concentration shall not exceed 0.1%

2. Mercury (Hg): The maximum concentration shall not exceed 0.1%

3. Cadmium (Cd): The maximum concentration shall not exceed 0.01%

4. Hexavalent chromium (Cr6+): The maximum concentration shall not exceed 0.1%

5. Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB): The maximum concentration shall not exceed 0.1%

6. Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE): The maximum concentration shall not exceed 0.1%

7. Dihexyl phthalate (DIBP): The maximum concentration shall not exceed 0.1%

8. Dibutyl phthalate (DBP): The maximum concentration shall not exceed 0.1%

9. Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP): The maximum concentration shall not exceed 0.1%

10. Dioctyl phthalate (DOP): The maximum concentration shall not exceed 0.1%

The standards and limits for ROHS2.0 certification may vary depending on the region, so please follow local regulations and requirements when conducting ROHS2.0 certification.

·Toys/entertainment, sports equipment: such as electric vehicles, video game consoles, automatic gambling machines, etc.

·Medical equipment: such as radiation therapy equipment, electrocardiogram testing equipment, analytical instruments, etc.

·Monitoring/control devices: such as smoke and fog detectors, thermostats, factory monitoring and control machines, etc.

·Vending machines.

RoHS 2.0 Control Scope:

Article 3 of the Management Measures: Electrical and electronic products refer to equipment and supporting products that rely on current or electromagnetic fields for operation or for the purpose of generating, transmitting, and measuring current and electromagnetic fields, with a rated working voltage of no more than 1500 volts for direct current and no more than 1000 volts for alternating current. Except for equipment related to electricity production, transmission, and distribution.

Electrical and electronic products containing harmful substances, that is, products marked with orange, should be labeled by the manufacturer or importer in the product description according to the table with the name and content of the harmful substance in the component. If you need to apply for RoHS certification for related products, you can directly contact the staff of Shenzhen Zhongqi Inspection Agency to inquire about the relevant costs and cycle information!
